Thursday June 5th
Dawn Ceremony @ Rarangi Beach to Celebrate the Rising of Matariki and the Maori New Year
Come and brave the cold and greet Matariki as she rises in the morning sky signaling the beginning of the Maori New Year.

6:00 a.m @ Rarangi Beach. Starting with karakia followed by guest speakers about Matariki, a taiaha display and a yummy BBQ breakfast.
Meet on the beach by the Rarangi Millennium Rock

Te Rapuora Matariki 4 Tamariki Celebration
Theme: Nga Whetu. The Stars
Fancy dress parade, prizes for the King and Queen of Matariki.
Fun and games for all. 6-9 p.m. Rangatahi hall Omaka Marae.

Omaka Marae Mara Kai Vegetable Garden Opening
Karakia will be at 1:00 p.m. followed by planting of the vegetable garden, a guest speaker about Matariki and Maori vegetables, kite flying and then Hakari.
